Review: Pullman Cocagne Eindhoven (former Sofitel)

The unfortunate time had come to travel to Eindhoven, Netherlands on business again. Previously we stayed in the Sofitel a couple of times, but when we tried to book it - we noticed it has become a Pullman over the Christmas break.

A shame, as while Pullmans are generally excellent, being Accor's conferencing brand, the perks aren't as good as that of Sofitel. Room upgrades and other stuff like free drinks are generally harder to come by on A-club Gold status in Pullmans.

The hotel is unchanged (bar a couple of pullman signs) so no problems here. The rooms are spacious and well appointed as you would expect from a business hotel, with:

Ironing board/iron
Trouser press
Tea/coffee making facilities
Television with Playstation
Dressing room
Work desk with high speed ethernet connection (pricy)
Safe

The only thing we didnt have was a corkscrew for the Sancerre we'd brought with us, but the concierge brought one up right away and even opened the bottle for us! Thats the service you expect.

We ate at the restaurant again, sadly it was average at best. Furthermore the mojito we had was shocking, but thats for another review!

Breakfast is served between 630am and 1030am like in all Pullmans, and the choice is superb, with an egg chef, and a full selection of Japanese soups and noodle dishes.

There is an indoor heated swimming pool and parking onsite.

Overall, a good hotel but it is a shame that Accor have shed the Sofitel brand (and perks) in favour of their newish Pullman conference brand which they are trying to grow.

Price 9/10
Room 8/10
Restaurant 5/10
Friendliness of staff 10/10

Overall: 8/10.
